How To Submit Passport Application Online ?


You can apply for passport online in India. Actually First of all you have to first go to Passport India Website for Online Passport Apply , Then you have to Register at Passport India Website. After that, you have to submit some basic details about yourself like :- Name, Father's name, Date of birth, Present & permanent address, Existing identity proof , address proof etc.

After that, You have to choose an appointment with your nearest PSK (Passport  Seva Kendra) with your preferred date & time. You have to visit the PSK at the given time & submit the xerox copy of your identity proof, address proof & date of birth proof. Biometric details (Fingerprints & retina image) is recorded at the PSK.

Know Everything About Online Passport Apply Process -


1. First of all, Go to Passport India Website From Here.

2. If you are new at Passport India Website, then Register Now OR if you are an existing user, Login Using your credentials.

3. Follow the following procedure to Register Yourself:

a. Register to apply at :
Select Passport Office.

b. (As per Present Residential Address) :
Select your RPO (Regional Passport Office) as per your State/Address.

c. Given Name (Max 45 Characters) :

Enter your First Name + Middle Name. Initials and honorifics (e.g. Dr.,Col.,etc.) are not allowed.

d. Surname (Max 45 Characters):

Enter your last name, also known as Surname.

e. Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY) :

Select your date of birth from the calendar icon.

f. E-mail ID (Max 35 Characters) :

Enter a working email Address. This will be used to notify you about further proceedings like Police Verification , Passport Dispatch Status , etc.

g. Do you want your Login ID to be same as E-mail Id?

Select "YES" if you want your login ID same as your email ID. 
Select "NO" if you want to choose login ID as per your choice.

h. Login ID :

Choose Unique Login ID and remember it. This will be used to login into Passport India Portal.

i. Password :

Choose a Strong Password. The password must contain one digit (0-9), one lowercase (a-z) or uppercase (A-Z) character. It can contain minimum 8 and maximum 14 characters.

j. Confirm Password :

Re- enter the same password for confirmation.

k. Hint Question :

This is a security question. You have to choose any question from the drop-down. In case you forget your password, then this security question will be used to reset that.

l. Hint Answer : 

Enter the answer of your security question. Answer can be anything of choice, but remember, this will be used for password reset process. So, Better memorize it.

m. Enter Characters Displayed :

At last, prove that you are a human, Enter the Captcha challenge correctly.

Cross check the information filled by you and if all is okay, Hit "Register".

4. Now, You are successfully registered into the Passport India portal. Open the E-mail you have given in previous steps and you must have received an email from passport.admin@passportindia.gov.in.


So, Click on the link given inside the email to confirm that this email belongs to you. 
You must have to click the link within 7 Days, after which it will get expired. As soon as you click
into the link, a box will open and it will ask you to kindly enter the user id. This user id is same as 
you had chosen in step 3-h above.

Now that you are half done, Now the actual Online Passport Apply Process Will start.

5. Login to Passport India Portal from here, using your User ID & Password. You will see the
following options available in front of you:

6. As you are applying for Fresh Passport, Click on Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport .

7. You can apply for Fresh/ Reissue of Passport using 2 Alternatives. However, We recommend Alternative 1. So, Select Alternative 1 and click on Click here to fill the application form online .

8. Now in the next step, You have to Select your State & District where your Online Passport Application will be processed by concerned officials.

9. After you have completed step no. 8, In the next step you have to select 3 things:

a. Applying for :
  
Select Fresh Passport if you are applying for the first time, OR select Re-issue of Passport for Reissuance of your existing Passport.

b. Type of Application : 
Select Normal for normal scheme , else select Tatkaal. Know More about Normal vs Tatkaal Passports.

c. Type of Passport Booklet :
Select 36 Pages or 60 Pages as per your wish. Know the Fees of Passport as per your booklet size.

After that, Click "Next".

10. Now in the next Page, Start filling your details as follows:

a. Given Name (Max 45 Characters):
Surname (Max 45 Characters):
Enter your last name/surname.

c. Gender :  
 ,  or T
Have you ever been known by other names (aliases)? (Max 45 Characters) :
Select YES or NO.

e.  :
Select YES or NO.

f. Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY) :
Select your date of birth from the calendar icon.

g. Is your Place of Birth out of India? :

Select YES or NO. (By default it is selected as NO)

h. Place of Birth (Village/Town/City) :

Enter your Place of Birth.

i. State/UT :

Select Your state or Union Territory.

j. District :

Select Your district from the drop down menu.

k. Marital Status:

Select Your Martial Status.

l. Citizenship of India by :
 
 ,R or by D
PAN (if available) :
Enter your 10 digit PAN Card number issued by income Tax Department, if available with you.

n. Voter Id (if available):
Enter your Election Card EPIC number , issued by Election Commission of India, if you have.

o. Employment Type :

Select your employment type from the menu.

p. Is either of your parent (in case of minor)/spouse, a government servant? :

Select YES if your parent is a government employee , else select NO.

q. Educational qualification :
Select as per your education.

 
r. Is applicant eligible for Non-ECR category?
See the Non-ECR category eligibility criteria to check if you fall under Non-ECR category. See also the Documents Required for Non-ECR Category. Select YES if you fall under this, else select NO.

s. Visible distinguishing mark:

Select any physical mark on your body like- cut marks, Burnt marks etc.

t. Aadhaar Number (if available):

Enter 12 Disit Aadhar card number issued by UIDAI,  if you have.

u. If you have given Aadhar number in the previous step, then, Select Yes under "I Agree" and hit "Next". Else, You can directly click on "Next".



It is recommended that you should periodically click on "Save My Details" so that data entered by you will be saved in the servers and you can resume it later.


11. Now in the next page, you have to give your Family Details.Please enter Father,Mother or Legal Guardian Names as applicable (specifying at least one of these is mandatory). -


a. Father's Given Name(First Name + Middle Name)

b. Father's Surname
c. Mother's Given Name (First Name + Middle Name).
d. Mother's Surname.
e. Legal Guardian's Given Name (If applicable)
f. Guardian's Surname.
g. Spouse's Given Name (First Name + Middle Name). (if you are married, then this is mandatory.) 
h. Spouse's Surname. 

After you are done, click Next.


Present Residential Address For Passport Application -


In this step, you have to fill the address where you currently resides. See list Of acceptable documents for Residential address proof for Passport Application in India.

a. Is your present address out of India?

Select YES or NO.

b. Enter other details like : House No. and Street Name, Village/Town/City, State/UT, District, PIN Code, Mobile Number and E-mail Id.


c. Is Permanent Address available?
 
Select YES if available. Then it will ask if your permanent address same as present address. Select YES or NO.

Emergency Contact Details For Passport Application -


This is required to fill the emergency contact details. Fill in The Name & Address, Mobile Number of the concerned person for emergency contact. 

After you are done, click Next.



Identity Certificate For Online Passport Application -




Details of Previous/Current Diplomatic/Official Passport -
Select Details Not Available / Never Held Diplomatic/Official Passport if you have never ever applied for a passport

or do not hold a passport. Select "Have you ever applied for passport, but not issued?
Select NO if you have never even applied for Passport in India before in the past. Else, Select YES and enter File number, date of applying & Name of Passport Office (PO) where applied.


After you are done, click Next.



Other Details For Online Passport Application -



Select YES or NO as per applicable to You -



a. Provide the following details if there are any criminal proceedings pending against the applicant.


b. Provide the following details if the applicant has been convicted by a court in India.


c. Provide the following details if the applicant has been refused/denied passport.


d. Provide the following details if applicant's passport has ever been impounded/revoked.


e. Provide the following details if applicant has applied for or been granted political asylum.


f. Provide the following details if applicant has returned to India on Emergency Certificate.

After you are done, click Next.

Verify the Spellings of Name, Address , Date of Birth etc. shown in the replica of Passport as shown like this-

a. Select the Proof Of Birth Document From the Drop Down Menu.

Select YES or NO as per your wish.


d. Now Enter the Place in the box & check I Agree Option.

After You are done, Finally Submit You Online Passport Application Form. Click on Submit Form for that. You will get to see the following message -

Pay Fees For Online Passport Application -

Now that you have successfully submitted all your personal details & completed online passport apply process ,  You have to pay the application fees for passport, There are two option to pay fees for your passport application.

a. 
Online Payment (Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card) -

You can select this option & Pay the Fees using Internet Banking/Credit Card or Debit Card. Click on Next & There will be an option to Schedule Appointment to process your passport application at Passport office. Select the PSK/RPO/Camp/Mela Location & the address of the PSK/RPO/Camp/Mela Location  will be displayed.

Enter the captcha & Click Next.

In the next Page, Select the Date of your convenience. Click on "Pay and Book Appointment". Next, Pay the application fee as per your preferred Payment Method.

Click the "Track Payment Status" link to check the Payment Status. Online Payment Status would be shown as under:

  1. Success: Payment has been received. DO NOT PAY AGAIN. Book an appointment by clicking the "Schedule Appointment" link.
  2. Pending: Click the Re-verify Payment button to reinitiate a service request to SBI's payment gateway and to ascertain whether the Payment Status is 'Success' or 'Failed'.
  3. Failed: Payment attempt has failed. Please click the "Pay and Schedule Appointment" link to pay and schedule an appointment, or regenerate the Challan to make the payment again.
    In case the payment status is "Failed" and the amount gets deducted, the deducted amount will be refunded by SBI to applicants BANK within seven working days. Thereafter, the applicant need to follow up with their BANK for amount to be credited into his/her account.
    If the amount is not refunded please send an e-mail to the Service/ Helpdesk Id:customercare.00691@sbi.co.in or call at Service/ Helpdesk Phone No.: 011-41561114 (between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM) providing the relevant details such as Application Reference Number, Transaction Id, Payment Amount and Transaction Date.

b. Challan Payment (Pay in Cash at SBI Branch) -

 If you cannot pay online, this option is for you. Select this option, & Generate Challan.
  • Take a printout of the SBI Bank Challan by clicking the Generate Challan button. Follow the instructions mentioned in the Challan.
  • Submit the Challan along with indicated application fee (in cash) at the nearest  SBI Branch after at least three hours of Challan generation.
  • Payment will be reflected after at least two working days of depositing the fee in the SBI branch. Click the "Track Payment Status" link to track Payment Status.
  • If the Challan Payment Status is:
    1. Success: Payment has been received. DO NOT PAY AGAIN. Book an appointment by clicking the "Schedule Appointment" link.
    2. Payment confirmation not yet received from bank: It takes at least two working days for the Challan Payments to get reflected in the system. In case Payment Status has not changed to Success within two working days, check with the respective bank branch for verification. You may also report the same to SBI by sending an e-mail to the Service/Helpdesk Id: customercare.00691@sbi.co.in or by calling at Service/Helpdesk Phone No.: 011-41561114 (between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM) providing the relevant details such as Application Reference Number, Payment Amount and Challan Deposit Date.
